Penny Spoelder in association with TRC produced a Tourism Masterplan for Magnetic Island to sustain growth, a thriving community, and a competitive visitor economy. This Masterplan was a blueprint for investment in infrastructure across the island that contributes to a thriving island community; ensuring growth of the visitor economy is appropriately managed to conserve the significant landscape, environmental and cultural values of Magnetic Island; increasing the economic return from tourism through increasing the value of tourism expenditure and attracting private investment to Magnetic Island. Penny consulted with the residents, Traditional Owners, industry, community organisations, government stakeholders and investors to determine the long-term vision for the island and the priorities required to achieve it.
